Plants vs Zombies: Review and Videos
What is it?
Basically it’s a nice refreshing take on a Tower Defense game. You have to defend you home versus a horde of zombies by planting plants in your yard which will fight them. To keep it interesting you don’t only plant in your front yard but also in your backyard, which has a pool by the way.
There is also a big difference in night and day battles, with some plants that only grow at night and not during the day and vice versa. At night it feels like you have stronger plants but less sunlight to buy new plants so the whole gameplay shifts a bit. Because you need sunlight! It falls from the sky during day time and you also get it from sunflowers (in day) and sun mushrooms (at night). You need it to put new plants in your yard to defend yourself against the enemy. The zombies. Oh yeah, at night there are also tombstones and fog in your yard which will make it harder for you and more fun.

Mini-games:
Controls:
The controls are as simple as can be. You only need to use your mouse to click on seeds and plant them. Along with various other things like picking up sunlight and coins. I think the game could have been better if they had included a hotkey function thus allowing you to plant faster and allowing the game to spawn zombies faster. Getting a bit more action in there.

Graphics:
Not much to say here, it looks good and polished. The zombies are sometimes hilarious and the plants look like they have real personality. Interesting concept really. Plants are cool and have character and personality (a red pepper looks real angry for example) and zombies are dumb and all look pretty much the same, they only become cool if they wear weird outfits or something. But back to the point! Its 2D, not that hard to get it too look good.

Well? What are you going to do?
Buy it?
To be honest despite all the different plants and zombies its still a bit repetitive, especially when you start a new level. It takes some time to build up speed each level. Because you need to plant sun giving plants in order to grow offensive plants. And seeing you start with only 50 sunlight (which is enough for only 1 sunflower) it takes some time to build a nice plant-base every level.
But overall I would say… yes definitely get it! It costs like 10 euro’s, and this is a very good game for that price. You get a long and intense “story” mode and when you are finished with that you can dive into the mini-games section. Combined with the humour this game offers (Micheal Jackson zombies ftw) its very reasonable priced and not a waste of your time! Buy it!
